Your community roastery and specialty coffee shop.

 

Hello, I am Gabe Anderson, owner of Margin Coffee Roasters. In July, 2018, along with an amazing team of visionaries and friends, I opened Albany’s first Third Wave coffee shop, serving locally sourced products and coffee, and creating what has become fondly known to our community as “Albany’s living room”. After a year and a half in business and amid the pandemic, we began roasting our own coffee. With over a year under our belt now, and struggling to keep up with the demand, we’re ready to open our second shop and roastery!

At our downtown shop, we welcome visitors from everywhere, but mostly see our neighbors from the Monteith and downtown districts. Our second shop and Roastery will be closer to the heart of Albany, and easily accessible along many of your commutes on Santiam Highway towards I5 and to weary road trippers. It will provide the dine-in coffee shop space that part of Albany needs, as well as a home for our roasting production.

We are proud to be an Albany business and having such a supportive community urging us forward is our motivator.

 

Why a second shop?

 

Although it enabled us to get things started, the cost of transporting beans weekly to where we roast, storing beans off site, and renting time on the roaster has been expensive and impractical, slowing our growth and limiting creativity. Roasting takes space, and green coffee storage takes more space. The new location will enable us to keep up with demands and reach more of the community with less strain on our downtown shop.

We will be remodeling the new space to take our roasting to the next level, with plenty of room to grow. We are also putting in a full-service coffee bar and dining area to create a place to enjoy our delicious brew and house made pastries.

Timeline?

 

Our timeline is ambitious, with fully funding the project by March 22’, the rough build-out finishing by the end of April 22’, the roaster up and running in May, and the coffee bar fully operational in June. This is a similar timeline goal to the grand opening of our flagship shop, which was met to-the-day with sweat, tears, and a lot of elbow grease, despite minor delays.

Many of you have been watching us grow over the years and we are so thankful for your support. The strength of our community has never been more felt than in the last year and a half of the Covid-19 pandemic. Throughout closures, mandates, and other challenges, you have stood by us and helped us get through even stronger. Thank you.

It's been a long time coming, but we are happy to finally announce the soon to open Margin Coffee Roasters - Roastery & Coffee Lab! Set to open around the end of May, 2022, the new space will host a cafe strore front with our full scale roastery in the back for customers to observe the process.
